Fallen Reapers

The Forsaken Curse of Fallen Reapers.
By an Anonymous Fallen Reaper.

Hello,

I am a Fallen Reaper. You will never know who I am, or be able to tell one of us from the rest of you, unless we want you to that is. We are for all extents and purposes human or some other equivalent race. I personally am in a human form, but really Fallen Reapers can appear as any race it depends most on how we fell. However we used to be more, and that's what makes us different.

That fear of death, that panic that clutches you in your final moments. I used to bring that. Reapers are a brilliant beautiful race created by Death himself in order to bring you into the afterlife. They exist beyond space and time, and unless you are a very gifted individual or on the brink of death you will never see them. Reapers are to be emotionless and guide souls where they belong without any personal feelings or emotions. They are supposed to be no more than tools created for a singular purpose bringing souls where they belong by a lazy father who can’t do his job by himself. However existing and coming into such close contact with humanity for so long can cause Reapers to start to feel things and emote. Eventually a Reaper might make a simple mistake like falling in love, or sparing someone from a fate they don’t think they deserve. Once this happens they are no longer a useful tool, in Death’s eyes they have broken, and what do you do with a broken tool you ask? You throw it away. That’s what we are, our fathers broken tools cast away to earth to live as the creatures we spared.

We are stripped of our immortality, put in a vessel of meat, and cast to live at the creatures we valued more than our creator. When we die another reaper will come take us to the afterlife. But as the biggest fuck you from death possible most of us retain the ability to see our Reaper brethren. Life as a Fallen Reaper can be a truly cursed existence. I’ll use myself as an example here.

I was a young reaper only a few thousand years old, however I encountered a mortal girl who didn’t react in fear toward me. Instead she showed interest thinking that death would be better than the life she lived. My heart was instantly captivated and it felt like it was beating for the first time truly. To meet such a poor and broken girl that had lived through such absolute hardships that me, a reaper, seemed like the best alternative. Yet she not only treated me with kindness, but by reviewing her life I learned she died from starvation allowing the other slaves around her to have her portion of food because they were more sickly than her. I couldn’t understand a world where my father would just let her die and with my power I changed her fate. I didn’t Reap her but allowed her to continue living and stole her away from the shop she was kept as a slave and set her free.

Death seeing this cast me out, stripping me of my immortality, and putting me in this human meat suit the second she was safe in another city. A fellow Reaper arrived looking at me like I was worse than scum and gave me a shoppers card and some clothes as a final goodbye and then left.

I decided I would settle down and live out my human life with the girl I fell for and loved but in less than a year she had moved on and wouldn’t even speak to me anymore. I fell for nothing and learned how fleeting human life and emotions can be. Now I’m stuck here living out a hollow life remembering the glory of what is was like in my Father’s realm. Not feeling hungry or sad just existing as a being above all this. I can’t help but regret my decisions and curse my asshole of a creator who would cast me out over something so simple. I want nothing more for him to realize I have changed but he will not listen. Even when I kill and kill the mortals around me to get his attention the other reapers he sends just look at me with scorn and the coward won’t come face me himself. But I know the truth when a Fallen Reaper dies death has to come collect them himself. So if I kill enough odds are I’ll find another Fallen Reaper and when death comes I’ll prove to him I’m able to Reap again with all of the souls I’ve killed so far. He’ll have to take me back.

He will have to take me back.

Or I’ll reap him too.

Tips for Fallen Reapers

Fallen Reapers can fall for a lot of different reasons.
Not all reapers are crazy murderers some value life I just wanted to have fun with my example.
Being able to see Reapers is a minor ability that can be taken at character creation by Fallen Reapers and other races alike. However if you aren’t a Fallen Reaper you’ll probably be asked why you can see them by your bio reviewer.
Most reapers fear death, as they don’t know what will happen to them as they were created by Death and aren’t normally mortal souls. They have also seen the pain and suffering of death first hand many times.

Final Notes:
As always please remember that none of these things are set in stone and are colored by the perspectives of the characters in the world. Please feel free to make things your own. If nothing here fits or goes against the goals of your character you always have the void to bring in your homebrew. The only thing that’s off limits is playing an actual Reaper. Because they exist on another plain and have more abilities they are not open for players to play sorry. This race was unlocked by Dugar, Mahogony, RogueDruid, Hollow Assassin, Coconut Wizard, Luminata, Macheman, Petro, Craer, Vaktor, Egon, Roitan, coldtom, PineCat, Night, EventideAdventuress, ObsceneChicken, Chandon, Silverpeppef, Pheonix, Hunty, SpartanNumber029, and RaphaelofTheDarkness during the S8 Milk run. An Exploration of Caleb's Woods

An Exploration of Caleb’s Woods

By Gerald Daniels

Today I’m diving deep into one of the densest forests in all of Delanith. It’s called Caleb’s Woods. It’s quite the mysterious name when you think about it. Who is this bloke Caleb and why did they name a woods after the fella. I’ve heard tell in some of the older villages on the outskirts of the woods they have different names for it and that Caleb’s woods isn’t its true name. They also warned me against going too deep, so what do those yokels know.

Anyway fellas let me tell you, these woods are thick. On the outskirts there’s signs of light hunting from the surrounding villages but there's still an overabundance of monsters around here. Like we are talking monsterpalooza of some of the most fascinating creatures you could imagine. Oddly they don’t seem as hostile and more surprised to see me. Heck I’m pretty sure at one point I interrupted a few Bunnys playin poker with a dropbear and a pig in a wizard hat. I mean I haven’t been drinkin much but what the hell? How is that possible? But I’m getting off topic.

When your entering the outskirts of Caleb’s woods it seems to be mostly younger trees, getting progressively taller, older, and more massive as you move toward the center. In the outskirts sunlight can still filter down on you, but as you get deeper and deeper the grass slowly disappears as does the light and your stuck climbing over tree roots and dead and dried leaves in utter darkness as monsters roam around you. Occasionally you’ll find the odd clearing with beautiful springs untouched by men for many years but they tend to be defended by powerful monsters. And occasionally you’ll come across bits where it seemed like a forest fire raged but was put out mysteriously before any real damage could occur. It made me consider starting a fire to see what would happen. But the moment I drew out my flint steel and bent down I was rushed by an angry dropbear out of nowhere. I took it as a sign and gave up my attempts.

I’m a bit of a monster connoisseur however I was seein critters I had never heard of before deep in those woods. As I got deeper and deeper it got quieter and quieter and I started to feel like something more intelligent than your common monsters were watching me and slowly the attacks on me stopped as long as I kept in a single direction. If I tried to turn toward the left of my position at any time I’d very quickly be attacked by powerful monsters that pushed me back as I had to flee from them in fear. However eventually after a long trip I managed to make it to what felt like the center of the woods and before me was a tree bigger than any skyscraper in Discord City.

It took me ten minutes just to circle the base of this tree that towered over me in a way that made me feel truly insignificant. So I did what any man in this case would do and drew my axe and tried to fell that bloody massive tree. However despite my strength and the strength of my axe even with a few brews in me to dull the pain in my hands I couldn’t lay a damn scratch on the forkin thing. Not only that when I unleashed one of my most powerful abilities it just made a dull thud like the forkin thing was hollow. How could a bloody massive forkin tree be hollow inside. I made camp at the base of it for the the night and throughout the night I had nightmares of being trapped in the woods forever. In the morning when I woke up it felt like I was being watched something fierce and I could have sworn I heard the tree moan in pain so I got my ass out of those creepy ass woods as fast as I could and it had nothing to do with the fact I somehow ran out of beer. Anyway the way out was oddly easy as if the forest itself wanted me the hell out. I was barely attacked and it took me a third of the time to get out as it did to fight my way in.

On my way out the village I stopped in for the night seemed really surprised to see me again. I quickly replenished my liquid courage but for the life of me couldn’t get up the energy to make a second trip in. As I approached the border of the forest it seemed like the woods themselves were watching me and the path I came back on seemed to have vanished.

If you ever intend upon attempting to explore this village I recommend you bring a good reliable source of light, a group of friends to protect each other, your best gear, and of course a lot of beer.

As always this has been Gerald Daniels exploring the weird parts of the world so you don’t have to.

A Brief History and Explanation of Dopples

A Brief History and Explanation of Dopples.

By I.C. Snipes.

You are walking in the woods, there’s no one around and your radio is dead, out of the corner of your eye you spot him. It’s you. He’s following you about 30 feet back, you turn to look at him and he seems to fade back into the woods. You flee in terror thinking you just saw an omen of death but in reality you just have encountered one of the most misunderstood races in Delanith the Dopples. No one quite knows how long they’ve been around but some believe they predate the Merge. I’ve been studying Dopples most of my adult life as their mysteries fascinate me and unlike that hack Dunmark I would not have published this paper unless I felt I had touched on some of the truth to their mysteries.

Let's start with their history. Dopples first became known without a doubt to the world three years after the merge. During a random patrol of Discord City a few soldiers stumbled upon a general within the side of magic just calmly strolling down the street. They immediately detained him as they had been engaged in a battle with him outside the cities walls and they were shocked he had managed to secretly enter. Much to their surprise the commander returned to the battlefield the next day while they still had him in their prison. After copious amounts of torture without the commander in bondage speaking a word he mysteriously escaped. It wasn’t until they saw the security footage and saw him shift into his natural form and then into that of a guard in order to stroll out the front that they knew they were dealing with a completely different race. A being completely unknown to them. It set off panic in both sides of the war once the discovery was made public. Apparently despite appearances the side of magic wasn’t intentionally using Dopples. That combined with the fact the general that was being impersonated fell in battle and died the very day of the Dopples escape was taken as a bad omen. Ever since then Dopples have been mistreated as spies or omens of death. However the truth of this race appears to be something completely different.

So what is a Dopple, and what is their true form you ask? A dopples true form is a humanoid, featureless, silhouette of pure white, black, grey, or a variety of colors. They have two black circles that seem to absorb the light around them where their eyes should be. However it is exceedingly rare for them to be seen in this form as without a mouth to speak they cannot communicate, however they do seem to be able to observe the world around them as the dopples that can control their transformations usually base them around someone in their immediate surroundings. Dopples can transform into any type of person or race of a size similar to themselves. As far as I can tell Dopples abilities to transform greatly change from Dopple to Dopple. Some have no control over their transformations and randomly swap based on mood or are constantly shifting features. Others seem to only be able to mirror people around them. And some even seem to have complete mastery not only being able to transform at control into anyone they’ve seen before but control their features to make their own ideal selves. Most Dopples I’ve managed to discover have limited control of their abilities to change form and are sometimes unaware they even look like others. I once met a dopple that had unconsciously copied me, it was odd because I could see a faint glow around his silhouette and it felt wrong to me. Like something had crawled into my skin and grabbed my heart but once I got over this initial gut reaction I had a chance to speak with a young, well I’m not sure if dopples have gender, but it felt like a young man. He was polite, friendly, and very intelligent. We spoke at length about his self identity issues. Apparently he’s only met a handful of dopples himself in his life however he knew he was born to a human mother who had apparently had sex with a dopple at some point in her life. It was a shock to her that he was born a dopple and he was quickly abandoned as a monster but was taken in by a nice older woman who helped him come to terms with himself. He couldn’t really control his power he would just shift into the form of people near him he was interested in or interested in understanding. He said he was chased out of many cities and villages because of his abilities and peoples fear of him. I could sense no ill will from him however so I invited him to stay on as my research assistant and he has been one of the most helpful I have ever known.

In his natural form he has almost no body heat however his organs seem similar to that of a human. I’m not sure if this is because of his human mother or if dopples are an offshoot of human evolution. I have had him switch into a variety of people however it seems no matter how many times he’s switched he can never fully control who he switches into, and his physical abilities do not change. Of course this may be different for other dopples as I’ve heard of dopples that can mimic people's powers, abilities, and completely control their shift but my assistant at least seems to have never gained that skill.

Dopples to me are a tragic misunderstood race. They seem to grapple strongly with identity issues, a sense of self, and a place to belong. I would like to invite any dopple reading this to come have a pot of tea with me and a long discussion about your life. To those who are not dopples reading this please do not treat them with fear and disgust they are people just like us. My assistant transformed into me many times over the last two years and my health is fine. They are not an omen of death, they are not spies or monsters, they are humans like beings, with human desires that are tragic creatures who can’t seem to control their own bodies. To me it seems like being a dopple would be a never ending horror show where you fought against your own body, but to my assistant he seems happy and treats it as nothing more than a minor inconvenience. I wish I had his strength some days. I hope this has shed some light on one of our world's most mysterious, rarest, and most misunderstood races.

Ichabod C. Snipes.

Tips For Dopples

  • Dopples are an interesting race that can really vary based off the player. Most Dopples will need to invest at least a minor ability into shifting unless they completely don't have control over their powers at which point plot staff will be able to step in and randomly shift you however they please. So as a tip at least spend a minor on getting some sort of ability to shift even if its just they can shift once a week into an ideal self or a combination of features they've seen recently.
  • A nice weakness for Dopples is they glow in the presence of someone they are duplicating. It's from the lore of dopplegangers themselves and just seems fascinating to me.
  • Dopples tend to have at least one personality disorder stemming from the circumstances that form as they grow up.

Doctor Green's Creations

Dr Green’s Creations

Transcript taken from an introduction Argos Grim gave new members of the Greenie Liberation Front.

Listen up pups,

My name is Argos. You can all call me Argy; most people around here do. I know know how wet behind the ears all of you are, but let me tell you about our creator Doctor Victor Green. Most people respect and admire their creators, but our sadistic monster of a creator can fuck right off. I don’t know if you’re a first generation or a fifth generation Greenie, Lycan, or Abom, but, I can tell you, those of us first generations were seriously fucked up by that sadist. Doctor Green has been around since before the merge; I’m fairly certain he’s some kind of immortal devil sent to punish all of humanity. I, personally, was kidnapped out of my bed at age five by project justice and turned into a lab rat at that man's hands. He spliced my genetic material with a dogs and I became what you see before you.

Doctor Green was a man born in the world of science before the merge; he created the most popular pet of the day Bunnys. And, after his genetic creation hit the shelves and became popular, he was contracted by the government. Rumors say he lost his wife and unborn children and that he originally came up with the Bunnys for around that time. He threw himself into his research and when the government wanted to create new soldiers to deal with and keep secret the magic that seemed to have seeped into their world, he was more than happy to oblige them. The government kept him busy with a near endless supply of test subjects and he created the core two races we know today: the Greenies and the Lycanthropes, occasionally creating the odd Abomination as his research went awry. Meanwhile, in the background as time passed and magic seeped into the living things in the world, his research moved more and more smoothly, and his Bunnys became warped turning from pets into the most populous monster in the world. Eventually, the government broke down, shattered and the war was lost. However, Green never stopped his research and his creating us. Eventually, he found a new benefactor in Zeus of Project Justice who needed mindless soldiers for his cause of unifying Discord city under his rule. Green didn’t care as long as it meant more test subjects. So, they were a match made in hell. That is the type of man our creator is. He’s not a merciful God of creation; he is a madman who cares about nothing but selfishly experimenting on as many people as he can to create whatever he pleases. And that’s why we the Greenie Liberation Front exist, to free our brethren - all our brethren be them Greenie, Lycanthrope, or even Abomination - from the hands of Project Justice and Doctor Green. Let me break down his creations, you and your fellow brethren, in detail for you.

First of all his prized children, his first creations, that he began to make after he finished creating Bunny’s and started dabbling with humans, the Lycanthropes. Lycanthropes can transition between human and animal forms. Some have a human, animal, and heterozygous form. Some only have two of them Human and Beast, Heterozygous and Beast, or Human and Heterozygous. I say human, but as some of you know he has experimented with turning non human races into his creations as well with some rare successes. Lycanthropes have been created of many different animals, monsters, and creatures. Certain Lycanthropes, like werewolves, have become so prevalent that they have tribes and villages of them out there in the world. After all, for the most part a child of a human and a lycanthrope are born a lycanthrope. I’m sure some of you in this crowd are third or even eighth generation lycanthropes. He’s been making them for over 300 years after all. Lycanthropes have been considered lucky by others of his creations - the Greenies and the Abominations - as they can pass for human, well most of them can. Thanks to that we use them as spies among the more human oriented groups as well as within Project Justice to try and take down Green who hides among them creating soldiers.

Second, are his creations the Heterozygous which we just call Greenies cause that’s one hell of a mouthful. Greenies are half human-half animals like me. We look humanoid, but have animal features to some degree. For example: my fur and face look like that of a dogs’, but I walk upright on two legs. I do have fangs and claws in my muzzle and on my fingers but I am still human inside, at least that's just how I feel. Some Greenies are lucky like I was and get to keep their mind and are only slightly controlled by their instincts. Others are less lucky, either controlled by instinct or brainwashed by Project Justice into soldiers. The most famous Greenies I can think of are the group of mice and rat greenies that - not only escaped - but created their own village where they work together and live in harmony. It was so embarrassing that I’ve heard Green has never made a mouse or rat greenie since. As I look over the crowd here, I can see a vast variety of different Greenies. We truly come in all shapes and sizes: some of you have skin, some fur, some scales, some have human faces, others faces like mine, more in tune with our inner beast. Those of you who were born a greenie are special and lucky in a way you never knew what it was like to have those horrible experiments performed on you that made you something other than what you were before. It warms my heart to see future generations of us who didn’t have to go through that horror. He’s been making Greenies for over 300 years as well. We may not be able to transform as our Lycanthrope brethren and he might have thought of us as mindless grunts, but we are truly people and living creatures and he will regret underestimating us in such a way. One day, I hope Green feels my fangs at his very throat and I can watch the light drain out of his eyes the way he watched my will to live drain out of my eyes as he performed his inhumane experiments on me.

Sorry I got dark there for a moment…

Last, but not least, we have his third creations, the ones he refers to as Abominations. Abominations are the Doctor’s mistakes. People created when his tried and true methods go horribly awry, either from some dormant gene in their DNA or carelessness on his part I have no idea, but they run the gamut from mindless brutes that live off blood and chaos to peaceful creatures who have a monsterous outward experience. Their appearances normally are humanoid but in some cases they can be barely humanoid as well; I’ve seen ones that are just bulging muscles covered in light grey fur that looked like a roided out super soldier. When I first met him, my tail went between my legs and I instinctively feared him, but once I met him I learned he was a gentle soul who collected and tamed bunnies so that he could pet them gently. Sadly, the experiments fried his brain and he was basically as mentally mature as a five year old. He lives with us now and tends a garden in the underground. Just be gentle and kind with him if you meet him. We call him Lenny. On the other hand, I’ve met one that was spliced with an octopus and he was a roving machine of madness hell bent on destroying the village we discovered him in. Sadly, we had to kill him, but there was not much of the man inside left in him. The light of sanity tends to be dim in the eyes of the Abominations but, never judge a book by it’s cover. I’ve heard rumors of one that looks like a beast of a man, but his eyes are that of a cold, calculating genius. If I ever get the chance to meet him, I don’t know if I would want to shake the hand of a man who kept himself under that horrible procedure that created him, or run in fear of what it might have turned him into. A side note, not all Abominations are created by Green. Rarely - very, very rarely - an Abomination may be born to a Greenie or Lycanthrope parent. But, most of the time, our animal instincts kick in and we kill the creature before it has a chance to become a danger to us.

Those are the three humanoid races this mad scientist has created within the world. Rumors are he has other offshoots of research, but as far as we know, the only four types of creatures he created enough of to be considered races are Lycanthropes, Heterozygous, Abominations, and of course the most common of monsters, Bunny’s that he created as a pet before the merge. Yes I know some Bunnies can be intelligent and learn to speak but I don’t consider them a true race like us so I will not waste the effort to speak of them here. With that I welcome you all as brothers in arms in the Greenie Liberation Front with the goal of freeing more of our brothers and sisters from the bondage of Project Justice, Doctor Green, and his current benefactor the ruler of Project Justice, Zeus.

May our pack run strong and meet our goal of true freedom!

Treatise On Zombies

03/03/18

Treatise On Zombies
By Professor J.A. Dunmark.

Within our wonderful world of Delanith there are many varied races, but certain races have a wide variety within themselves. One such example are zombies. The term Zombie has been traced back to before the merge in the world of magic over a thousand years ago when the Mad Necromancer Flaya Grimdark heard a couple of void displaced travelers scream "Oh God no! Not more zombies! Please fucking Christ not more zombies." before his Risen guards killed them. He enjoyed the novelty of the term and it caught on in Necromatic circles even after the merge as a catch all name for all types of undead creatures such as the Risen, as well as the basis of the terms for the ZILF virus, and most commonly refers to poor neurotransmitter deficient Souless. I will, of course, go into more detail on those core zombies below but I would be remiss if I didn't speak further on the potential of other creatures that have been called zombies. Zombie isn't a cut and dry term applicable to any singular race; unfortunately, it is more of a descriptor of a broad spectrum of unfortunate souls who have had a dire turn of fate and been robbed of much of their own will. I will go into more details of the offshoots of Zombism in my discussion of the Risen but know that my discussion of these poor creatures is not an absolute and is, of course, colored by my own biases as a man of science and research like much of my writing.

Risen

Let me start by discussing the broadest and most simplest form of undead 'Zombie': the Risen. The Risen refers to any undead brought back by a wizard or magician to do their bidding. Many are not exactly sure how to define the Risen in their entirety and there is much debate over whether those revived by clerics with their own free will, or by nature rituals with druids, or even Demons themselves (if you believe the legends that the mindless demons that serve the Lord are tortured souls brought back and given flesh as some less scientific minds want to do) are all forms of the Risen. However, by my definition, the Risen are any creature revived by the dead by a spellcaster without their own free will and forced to serve under their caster. This includes most undead that lack free will, such as: skeletons, flesh covered abominations, or rotting corpses. Technically, by my definition even some Golems would qualify as Risen. But unfortunately, some of my far less intelligent colleagues such as Professor Ichabod Snipes have already wrongly classified them. But, that is a discussion for a later treatise. As I was saying, the Risen tend to have no willpower of their own and instead, are loyal to whoever raised them or, in the case of their masters death, wander aimlessly without a goal. It is said that a masterless Risen, given enough time, may begin to think and form feelings of their own. However, very few cases of this have ever been confirmed.

Many rumors of Zombies, such as they eat the flesh of the living, do not apply to the Risen; to think a reanimated corpse would be interested in eating you is ridiculous. How would they even begin to digest you; their body is dead. Eating your flesh would just cause them to bloat until their organs ruptured and they lose mobility. If the creature you are facing is attempting to feast upon your flesh you are almost certainly dealing with a Souless or some other abomination brought up from hell itself to haunt your nightmares. Or, is under the order of some very, very, very stupid mage. Either way, destroy the brain and you should be fine. Or if it's humanoid, break its arms and jaw, and you have very little to worry about. It should be stated in most cases the bite of a Risen is not infectious; they are magical creatures so how would they function as a disease? Again, this is dumb folklore or people getting other creatures mistaken for Risen.

Souless

The Souless are creatures that I truly pity. They are under the throws of a disease that cuts off their brain's neurotransmitters. Due to the lack of neurotransmitters, the victims are left in a state of aimlessness. However, they can feel if they feast upon a brain soaking in active neurotransmitters. This had lead many Souless to start craving brains and feasting upon others. The Souless, however, feel the emotions of whatever their victim was feeling at the time of death, whatever chemicals were floating around in their brains, so many of them feel fear, anger and adrenaline causing them to go into a fit of rage, and go more and more mad, constantly feeding and attacking like little more than an animal that needs to be put down. Recently, some doctors in Tent City have been creating synthetic neurotransmitters and using them to give some Souless a semblance of normal life.

The thing about Souless is they are human. On some level they are still human or whatever race they were before the change. They are still themselves and each taste of brain gives them a bit of their old selves back. The issue is whatever emotions the people were feeling when they died are the emotions that most hit the Souless. Some people are kind and donate their brains to the Souless upon death giving some of the creatures warmth and peace, however fleeting the effects of how long the emotions last may be. It varies from creature to creature, but it’s often not longer than a week. Some poor souls can barely last a day. It depends how many neurotransmitters are active in the brain and what creature the brain comes from. Most of these poor creatures just want their old lives back, to live normally again and not feel the cold void of nothingness ever again. To a Souless, their greatest fear once they've tasted feelings again is to lose them.

But many have grown to fear these creatures. They are still living so they need to feed on flesh but, due to the lack of neurotransmitters and the fact that without eating the brains of something they are little more than moving cattle, the Souless tend to live off garbage, offal or any roadkill around them that they can feast on. They can obtain basic neurotransmitters from the brains of animals but, again, those creatures are usually dead from traumatic means causing the Souless to become agitated. Their disease is also infectious by bodily fluid contact so if you are bitten or share fluids with one your are likely to become infected unless you have taken precautions. There is currently no known antidote but several cities, such as Tent, Noctum and Discord, are researching them. Other cities, such as Diem and many of the more primitive villages, kill Souless on sight to prevent the infection from spreading.

ZILFs

The third entry on my list of the abhorrent creatures we call Zombies is the most terrifying to those who live in the larger cities. It is the ZILF virus. So called because they are Zombies you'd like to fuck right up until it bites you in the ass. There are two classifications of ZILFs. The Zomblords/Zombladies and the Rotters they produce. I am not a medical professional so I refer to the medical paper written by one of my colleagues, the esteemed public health specalist of Tent City, one Doctor Emerett Franklin.

"A recent outbreak that began spreading near the end of the war of magic and science, a new disease, has come to my attention. It appears to be a sexually transmitted disease of a potentially magical nature, but it affects people in a biological way. This ZILF virus, as it is called, is transferred by sexual contact, or blood to blood contact with one of the infected. It often leaves its victims rotting husks similar to those suffering from leprosy in its final stages but presents in a truly horrifying way. After sleeping with one of the infected the subject becomes contagious and as the disease begins to progress their libido increases rapidly. This slowly grows into an all consuming desire for sex and most tragically of all the physical warning symptoms do not begin to appear for a week or two long after they have already began infecting multiple partners. In most victims this results in their minds becoming more and more consumed with lust and pleasure as their bodies eventually begin to rot and eventually results in the subjects death. However certain infected survive and further do not rot. These subjects refer to themselves as Zomblords or Zombladies although other terms exist. Not much is known about these creatures as I have not had the opportunity to experiment on one personally. However, what is known is they become a creature of sexual desire but maintain their mental functions. Furthermore, their sexual organs become enlarged, penises in the men, breasts in the women, and their libidos are increased massively. Many are said to begin emitting a pheromone that makes them hard to resist to those around them. It is believed they feed off of the bodily fluids of those they infect and have some manner of control or sway over the rotters they create. It is unknown what separates a Zomblord or Lady from a Rotter but, it’s believed to be related to their willpower and sense of self. These creatures seem to have more in common with the demon subclass succubi than the zombies of lore. It is worth noting that the ratio of Zomblords to Ladies appears to be skewed with the ladies out numbering the men 2 to 1. However, whether this is accidental or related to the men being found and killed more often is unknown. This is a subject that needs much more study and live subjects are hard to find before they begin getting to the rotting stages which unfortunately means getting a live version of the bacteria in a healthy host is hard to find. It is believed that some people who have gotten the virus have managed to suppress it completely or even that certain races, such as the Heterozygous, are immune to it. However, not much is known for certain and I am not a fan of rampant speculation. I have put in a request to the King for further research."

So, as you can see there is a lot of speculation on the true nature of the ZILFs; I have personally even heard of victims who have contracted the disease but have not rotted, yet have not reached the level of power of true ZombLords and Ladies. Several of my colleges believe that this might be related to the disease that accidentally escaped Doctor Greene's laboratory back in the days before the merge in the world of science. Who can truly say for certain but if you manage to capture someone contaminated or you yourself contract the disease and realize it before it becomes too late I'd highly request you visit Dr. Franklin in Tent City before you infect your family.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this is by no means a complete list of the creatures that are considered zombies within our world. However, it does describe the core ones that are more than just monsters that can think and possibly even feel. I wish I had more time to dedicate to other creatures that have historically been called Zombies such as the victims of Doctor Greene's rabies experiments in Year 3 S B.M. However, as that infection was contained and the victims killed, and the nature of the records of that experiment being widely unavailable, I am unable to dedicate the proper time to them. I also did not feel it necessary to label those creatures that I consider monsters, or those poor people suffering from drug use that leaves them in a zombie like state as these core Zombie races. Nor any odd void creatures, or any rare creatures such as the old myth of the 211 victims from the world of magics legends dating back thousands of years.

I wish you the best of luck that you never suffer from any of these horrific conditions and, if you encounter the infected regardless of what type, I'd like to remind you it is generally a decent rule of thumb that, if you encounter any being that means you harm, headshots tend to be incredibly effective, unless you are dealing with a golem or a simpleton.
